About us

Scotchmans Hill has been producing premium cool maritime climate wines for over forty years. Situated in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula, our winery has become a renowned local producer and a must-visit destination. Rated among James Halliday's Top 100 Australian Wineries, our beautiful estate is just a 90-minute drive from Melbourne or 20 minutes from Geelong, making it a convenient and enjoyable trip for wine enthusiasts.

Our Story

The origins of Scotchmans Hill begin with a family's affection for the Bellarine Peninsula. George Cornelius Browne constructed a seaside cottage in Portarlington in 1946. His son David Browne and the Browne family later bought an old dairy farm overlooking Port Phillip Bay and named it Scotchmans Hill.

Winemakers & Viticultural Team

“Good wine can be made in the winery, but great wine is made in the vineyard. We focus on managing the vineyard to produce the healthiest, clean and intense fruit characters possible”
