BH17 - 2013 Swan Bay Shiraz
Deep purple in appearance. A complex nose of ripe dark fruits, red berries and plums, rounded out with a touch of liquorice and chocolate, balanced by spice and well-integrated cedar oak. A full flavoured and complex wine dominated by plum, cherry and red fruits. This is rounded out by white pepper, liquorice and spice, with a cedary oak finish.
Cool climate Shiraz from the Bellarine Peninsula. Fermented in closed stainless steel fermenters, then matured in French oak barriques for 15 months. 14.0% ABV
"Very much an exercise in cool climate shiraz, and if you like the style this is on the money. Pepper and woody spice dominate the bouquet, the flavours likewise showing savoury, dark earth character rather more than fruit sweetness. The drying tannin is in balance, but obvious enough to suggest this is a wine best enjoyed with food. Pepperoni pizza comes to mind."
