BH17 - 2012 Scotchmans Hill Shiraz
White pepper, earth and liquorice aromas with a charry oak background. This is a rich and full flavoured Shiraz delivering complex savoury characters. The wine is supported by firm acid and fine-grained tannins, which give it length, balance and structure.
Sourced from premium vineayrds on the Scotchmans Hill estate. Handpicked, de-stemmed to small fermenters and cold soaked for 5 days. Wild ferment at 28°C for 7 days. Pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation. Matured in new to 4 year-old French Barriques for 15 months. 14.0% ABV. Drink now to 2021.
"A beautiful wine. The asking price is well worth it. Medium-bodied, fragrant, nimble on its feet, a Burgundy/pinot lover's shiraz. Lively acid tips through blueberry and black cherried fruit. Kirsch notes add depth. Savoury/spice notes add lift. All elegance and light."
