2013 Cornelius Pinot Gris
Full savoury-spiced nose showing layers of baked and toffee apple, full-ripened pear, creaminess, and hints of musk and toast. The palate is full and plush with superb intensity and complexity. Spice and savouriness follows with well integrated creamy lees, hints of oak and steely acidity laying the foundation.
Hand-picked, whole bunch pressed with free run juice to barrel, wild fermentation then took place over 10 days. The yeast lees were stirred regularly over the next 6 months while maturing in 2 to 4 year-old French barriques. The wine was then blended, fined, filtered and bottled. Alcohol/Volume 13.5%. Drinking beautifully now.
