2010 Armitage Vineyard Pinot Noir
Mid garnet with a slight brick hue. Complex nose with lifted scents of plums and red berries, beetroot and gamey notes. Intense palate of plum, red fruit, dark cherry and subtle spicy oak. Firm acid, fine tannins and a powerful long finish.
Hand picked at optimal ripeness. 100% destemmed to a small 3 tonne open fermenter and soaked for 5 days before fermentation started by wild yeasts. The must was hand plunged daily over the 2 week period the wine was in tank. Pressed to barrel where it spent 16 months in 1/3 new, 1/3 1 year old, and 1/3 2 year old Troncais barriques.
